Rookies look to impress at Masters | News Article

The 2015 Masters at the Augusta National will see no less than 20 rookies take to the field when the years’ first major tees-off on Thursday in Georgia.

While world number one, Rory McIlroy and former world number one and 14-time major winner Tiger Woods will undoubtedly be the major draw cards, the newcomers at Augusta will be looking to stake their claim for the coveted Green Jacket.
 
In all seven of the players are amateurs, while 35-year-old Erik Compton is the oldest professional to make his Masters debut.
 
In 1979 Fuzzy Zoeller became the only player to have won the Green Jacket to win the tournament in his first attempt.
 
2014 US Open winner, Martin Kaymer of Germany who has career best of tied 31st at Augusta says a solid short game
is the key to doing well at the Masters.
 
The tournament at the Iconic Augusta tees off on Thursday and runs until Sunday.
