Golden Bear scores first Augusta ace─── 09:38 Thu, 09 Apr 2015
Nineteen-time majors winner and six-time Masters champion, the Jack Nicklaus was one of four players to score a hole-in-one at yesterdays’ par three contest preceding the Masters.
Amazingly, yesterdays’ ace on the fourth hole was the first ever for the 75-year-old Golden Bear at Augusta.
Even more amazing is that while four players scored an ace, five were hit in total with Camilo Villegas scoring two, which saw him through to the play-off against the eventual winner, Kevin Streelman.
South Africa’s 2008 Master champion, Trevor Immelman and Chile’s Matias Dominguez were the other two players to hit a pot shot.
Two-time champion, 63-year-old Ben Crenshaw who played alongside Nicklaus and South African legend, Gary Player will be playing in his 44th and final Masters this year.
The Texan said it’s going to been an emotional week for him, but its’ part of life.
The first round of the tournament at the iconic Augusta National tees-off at 13:45 this afternoon with the American pairing of Charley Hoffman and Brian Harman.
