Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy underlined his status as the best golfer in the world on yesterday with a record-shattering win at the PGA Tour Wells Fargo Championship.
The world number one fired five birdies in a three-under par 69, following up his stunning course-record 61 a day prior to finish with a 21-under par total of 267.
The total saw him finish seven strokes ahead of Webb Simpson and Patrick Rodgers who shared second on 274.
The 26-year-old shattered the previous 72-hole tournament record set by Anthony Kim in 2008 by five strokes.
After his 11th career PGA win, McIlroy said it went as good as it can at Quail Hollow.
"Everything is firing on all cylinders for me," said McIlroy.
"I feel like as the best player in the world, I want to go at it every week and, not so much prove it, but just show that,"McIlroy added.
He became the first two-time winner of the event, in which he claimed the first of his 11 PGA titles back in 2010.
