Burmester wins Lombard Classic─── 09:06 Mon, 25 May 2015
Bloemfontein professional, Dean Burmesters’ fine season has continued with the golfer winning his second Sunshine Tour title for the season.
Burmester won the Lombard Classic played at the Royal Swazi Sun Country Club in fine style with a five stoke victory over runners-up Keith Horne and Peter Karmis.
The player carded a final round of seven under par 65 yesterday to finish on 23 under par, after opening and second round of 63 and 65 respectively.
The player said his putting has been consistent this season and he hopes the form continues.
"A week like this is massive and long may this good form continue. The putter has been hot all season, so hopefully they keeps going in for me,” said the 25-year-old.
The Zimbabwean-born Burmester will be taking a bit of a break now with him and his wife Melissa expecting the birth of their first child in July.
"I’m going to try to get into some Challenge Tour events in July and also try to qualify for the British Open, but right now I’m just looking to get back to the wife and my little boy who’s on the way," Burmester added.
Burmester currently ranks fifth on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit and hasn’t missed a cut since the Lion of Africa Cape Town Open in November last year.
This season he’s played 10 tournaments and finished in the top 20 at every one and apart from winning the along with winning the Zimbabwe Open and no this week’s Lombard Classic for his fourth tour win.
