Bloemfontein - The trial of two students accused of assaulting a fellow student on the Bloemfontein campus of the University of the Free State earlier this year is continuing in the city's regional court today.
Cobus Muller faces four charges of reckless driving, crimen injuria, attempted murder, and assault. His fellow student, Charl Blom, faces a charge of assault.
The state alleges the two students tried to run over a fellow student Damani Gwebu with their bakkie on the campus in February.
OFM's Owen Kock reports that advocate Johann Nel for the defence this morning said he will ask the court to declare Gwebu a liar, as his evidence is in direct contradiction to his statement made to police on February 17.
