Bloemfontein - Damani Muzi Gwebu came under fire this morning during cross examination from advocate Johann Nel in the case in which fellow Kovsie students Cobus Muller and Charl Blom stand accused of attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, among other charges.

These stem from the February 17 this year, when the suspects allegedly ran over Gwebu their bakkie and then assaulted him.

Muller also faces charges of reckless and negligent driving as well as crimen injuria, while Blom only faces a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Gwebu says he was on his way to meet a friend at a hostel on the Bloemfontein campus of the University of the Free State, when the alleged incident took place.

He also told the court Muller used the K-word before running him over.

Nel put it to Gwebu that it would have been difficult for him to have heard the derogatory word over the noise of the bakkie which, Gwebu claimed was driving at supersonic speed. The case continues.
