Johannesburg - The Nelson Mandela Foundation is launching the Mandela Day 2015 campaign today.
Mandela Day is celebrated annually on July 18, which is the former statesman’s birthday. The day was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009, with the first UN Mandela Day held on July 18 the next year.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation Manager, Yase Godlo, says Mandela Day needs to reach out to a global population to spread the message of serving others.
Godlo adds this year’s theme carries on from last year, and is based on the four pillars of providing shelter, food security, education and literacy, and service and volunteering. Godlo explains how to become part of Mandela Day.
