England all smiles after win | News Article

Zimbabwe are expecting West Indies to come at them all guns blazing tomorrow when the two sides face each other at the Cricket World Cup in Canberra.

Following a good performance against the Proteas in their opening match and a hard fought win over the United Arab Emirates, the Zimbabweans confidence is at an all-time high.

A comprehensive 150 run win over Pakistan will lift the bruised Windies spirits somewhat, and star Zimbabwean batsman, Hamilton Masakadza expects a tough game against the Caribbean’s.

Masakadza warned that the islanders proved against Pakistan they are dangerous, but he said there is a positive vibe in their team.

In the Windies camp the spirits are high as well following their win over the weekend although they feel there is always room for improvement.

Captain Jason Holder is confident that his team which lost to Ireland in their opening game will not appear again during the World Cup.

Holder is of the view that they can play even better.

The tall all-rounder feels tighter bowling and a few more contributions with the willow down the order will make them much more competitive.

Tomorrow mornings match at the Manuka Oval underway at 5:15.

In Christchurch, England captain Eoin Morgan was all smiles after his side won their first match of the tournament.

Following heavy losses to Australia and New Zealand, the English bounced back to beat Scotland by 119 runs today.

Moeen Ali scored 128 for the English as they posted 303 for 8 in their 50 overs.

Steven Finn was the picked of their bowlers with three wickets for 26 runs as the Scots were dismissed for 184 in 42.2 overs.

Morgan who scored 46 said he was delighted with his teams’ performance but wants them to be a little more ruthless against Sri Lanka come Sunday.

Meanwhile, in the South African camp, AB de Villiers is on the brink of suspension due to their slow over rate during their 130 run loss against India in Melbourne.

The entire team were fined 10% of their match fee, while they captain was docked 20%.

Should the team transgress the over rate again before the final, De Villiers will be suspended for a match.

Sources close to OFM in Sydney said it looks as if Kyle Abbott will replace the injured Vernon Philander for their match against the Windies in Sydney on Friday, while Ferhaan Berhardien will replace Wayne Parnell.
