SA need no motivation for Irish challenge | News Article

For South Africa and Ireland it was business as usual at the Cricket World Cup with the two teams wrapped their preparations for tomorrow’s Group B tie in Canberra.

It was a quiet day at the tournament with no teams playing today after two weeks of gruelling competition.

Coming off the high of their massive 257-run drubbing of the West Indies on Friday, the Proteas have been taping into the expertise of assistant coach, Adrian Birrell ahead of the match.

After coaching the Irish for five years, Birrelll warned that the team he coached and the team which beat the Windies are two different kettles of fish.

Although the side are taking the team from the Emerald Isles lightly, there is a good chance that some of the regulars may get a breather for the match.

All-rounder Farhaan Berhardien who hasn’t been a regular starter at the world cup says he has been motivated for this stage for a long time.

Tomorrow morning’s match at the Manuka Oval gets underway at 5:30.
