Australia and India ready for 2nd CWC semi | News Article

Proteas captain AB de Villiers has accepted the responsibility for yesterday Cricket World Cup exit in Eden Park.

The Black Caps beat South Africa by 4 wickets after chasing down the 298 run target with just one ball to spare.

Speaking after the match, the inspirational skipper said that the rain actually had very little bearing on the game, but he will accept the responsibility after not being able to run out Corey Anderson who scored 58 runs.

Meanwhile, tomorrow morning co-hosts Australia square off against the champions India in the second semi-final to determine who will take on New Zealand in Sunday’s final.

The Aussies are expected to name an unchanged team from the one that beat Pakistan in Adelaide.
Pat Cummins for Josh Hazlewood is the only possible change, though this would be harsh on the Hazelwood who took four wickets in the quarter-final.

The Indians in their turn are probably the most settled team at the tournament are likely to stick with the same eleven that has been doing the business for them thus far.

The Sydney track is the same one that was used for the South Africa versus Sri Lanka, and at the end of a very long and hard season while in all likeliness be more suited to the team from the subcontinent.

While the Australian team hasn’t been overly impressive at the tournament thus far, the know when to peak are the four-time champions for a good reason.

Captain Michael Clarke said that their focus relies heavily on preparation for the actual opponent, rather than the actual match for the occasions.

He feels this is something they have been able to achieve consistently over the past few years.

As usual, the Indian camp has gone about their business rather quietly and has opted to rather leave the talking for on the field, a strategy which has seen them unbeaten in the tournament.

The dangerous Rohit Sharma revealed they don’t mind if the wicket is conducive to spin or seam bowling.

The team has taken 70 wickets in their 7 games played thus far, and Sharma believes their attacked is well balanced.

He added that he watched bits of yesterdays’ semi and hope they face the Blacks Caps on Sunday.

Tomorrow morning’s match at the Sydney Cricket Ground gets underway at 5:30.
