Bloemfontein - Red meat producers are feeling slightly more upbeat about the industry following recent rains and good Easter weekend meat demand.
The Red Meat Producer Organisation’s (RPO) Gerhard Schutte says the Easter weekend is important for the industry as consumer demand for meat is high.
He says despite consumers being under pressure, producers got slightly more for beef, while lamb prices showed sidewards movement. He says further good news is upward movement in the wiener calf prices.
Schutte says good rains have left the industry with a much more positive outlook going forward:
