New Chairperson for North West red meat producers─── SABRINA DEAN 15:21 Thu, 28 May 2015
Bloemfontein - Hartbeesfontein farmer SP Fourie has been elected as the new chairperson of the North West Red Meat Producer’s Organisation. The former vice chair was elected during the provincial organisation’s annual conference in Vryburg this week.
He replaces outgoing chair Flip Le Roux, who earlier this week told OFM News it has been a privilege to serve the organisation.
Sakkie van Zyl has meanwhile been elected as vice chairperson. Van Zyl last year held the province’s name high after being announced as the National Young Farmer of the Year.
The conference this year was held under the theme “Progressive Red Meat Production in Practice”. Presentations ranged from predator control methods and imports from SADC countries to an innovative new computer model dealing with ox farming and wiener calf production and the development of a new meat classification system.
