Milk producers hit by further price reductions─── SABRINA DEAN 14:07 Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Bloemfontein - Milk producers are bracing for a very tough few months on the back of steadily decreasing producer prices coupled with an oversupply of milk.
Free State Milk Producers’ Organisation Chairperson Gideon Lamprecht confirmed that Clover has announced another 30c per litre drop in the price paid to producers in addition to the 30c drop instituted at the end of May.
He says other milk buyers are also dropping prices:

He says the situation is even worse in the Free State:

Lamprecht is urging producers to practice stringent management techniques such as sending cows at the end of their lactation cycle to pasture to dry up and thereby keep operating costs as low as possible.
