Jaco Hendriks and his father Dr Kobus Hendriks of Inovula were named the Elite Dairy Farmer of the Year, in addition to receiving several special awards for the quality of their herds. They say it is an honour to receive recognition for a job well done.

Kobus adds that an award like this is also extremely important for the morale of the business:

“For us as management it means an immense amount because you know a business like this is not run by a single person, it’s a team effort.

“I think for the team it means a lot because it shows that we are doing something right. I have now handed the farming operation over to Jaco and he is running things, so it is really great for us as a team to get something like this.”

The Hendriks family will now go on to compete for the title of Elite National Dairy Farmer of the Year, which will be announced during Bloem Show in April next year.

SA Studbook’s Rampie de Wet says about a dozen special awards were handed out during the awards ceremony at Reyneke Park. He says the MD Foundation in Ficksburg scooped up the bulk of these awards.
