Brits - North West police have revealed the name of the 44-year man shot and killed on a smallholding at Losloperfontein in the Geluk district at Brits this weekend.

Police spokesperson, Kelebogile Moleko, says Danie Dericksen, his wife and brother were having a braai on Saturday around 22:00 when four armed men approached them. The suspects fired two shots. Danie died on the scene and his brother sustained serious injuries. His wife was tied up but was unharmed physically.

Moleko says Danie's brother is a critical condition at Mediclinic Brits. Danie's son was in the bathroom during the attack.

Moleko has urged communities with information to contact the police and be on the lookout for a white Isuzu-bakkie with the registration number JDN 828 NW in which the four suspects fled the scene.
