Bloemfontein - The Higher Education Transformation Network (HETN) has condemned today's planned march by what it calls rightwing students against a task team's findings regarding initiation practices at the North West University's Potchefstroom campus.
HETN spokesperson Hendrick Makaneta says the students feel they've been portrayed in an unfair light but have failed to provide any evidence to prove otherwise.
Makaneta says the Wessels report confirmed that there was more than one incident in which students used the Nazi salute since it’s been a long-standing tradition in many student residences.

He said the Rector of the Potchefstroom Campus Herman van Schalkwyk must take responsibility if violence erupts today.
The NWU's student council will march from 11:30 this morning in a bid to dispel incorrect perceptions around alleged racist initiation practices at the Puk campus.
