Samwu: 'Sasolburg strike is legal'─── REFILWE GAESWE 07:43 Sat, 26 Jul 2014
Refilwe Mekoa Sasolburg - Metsimaholo Municipality employees currently on strike are adamant that their activities are legal.
Some of the South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) in Sasolburg vow not to back down.
According to Samwu’s local chairperson Sandla Mahlathi, they stopped protesting after they were served with an interdict since the strike started on 17 June.
The municipality Thursday warned the somewhat 150 striking Samwu members that they will be taking serious discipline measures.
Mahlathi dismisses Metsimaholo’s statement that they are willing to work together with the union.
He said since they started striking, the municipal manager has been nowhere to be found and Samwu’s provincial leaders has been struggling to get hold of the mayor.
Samwu’s national office bearers will intervene by next week.
