Death camp owner back in court | News Article
Vereeniging - The cross-examination of the owner of a military-style camp where three boys died is expected to resume in the Vereeniging Regional Court today.

Alex de Koker and his employee were charged with murder, child abuse and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, relating to the death of one of the boys, 15-year-old Raymond Buys in 2011.

The teenager had been attending the Echo Wild Game Rangers camp designed to "turn boys into men" and was allegedly beaten, chained to his bed, burnt, starved. He died in hospital.

De Koker this week told the court he had chained Buys to his bed because the teenager had attempted to commit suicide, saying the boy's injuries were all self-inflicted.
