Bloemfontein's Lianné Greyling: Legal Aid representation refused | News Article

Bloemfontein - A fraud accused from Bloemfontein who appealed Legal Aid’s decision not to represent her, heard in court this morning that her appeal has been refused.

Lianné Greyling is facing 25 fraud charges, which stem from the import of luxury vehicles and motorcycles that she had ordered for customers. R5.2 million is believed to be involved.

No reasons for the refusal of her appeal were provided.

A Legal Aid representative says the matter has been referred to head office for consolidation and a decision should be reached within two weeks.

Meanwhile, Greyling has been advised that she will have to make plans on whether she would represent herself or seek alternative representation, should this decision not be in her favour. Her next appearance is scheduled for August 19.

It is at this stage unclear how Greyling makes her income, but one of her bail conditions is that she should not conduct any business in the import and export sector while the trial is underway.

Her husband, Jean who recently spent eight months in prison after being found guilty of arson, was also present at her court appearance.
