Mahikeng - The ANC in the North West and a local non-profit organisation, Conveyors of Hope, are expected to take part in a protest march today in Mahikeng in solidarity with Palestine to condemn the oppression against them by Israel.
This comes as Israel yesterday vowed to keep its troops in Gaza until they finish destroying a network of cross-border tunnels, despite sharp UN and US criticism over the Palestinian death toll. Provincial ANC spokesperson Oupa Matla says the political party has pledged its solidarity with the Palestinians in line with the ANC's beliefs.
The protest march will start 13:30 on Molopo Road, Nelson Mandela Drive and Martin Street. It will finish at the Mafikeng Museum at 15:00 by handing over a memorandum to a Government representative.
The ANC calls on all South Africans to support the programmes and campaigns of the Palestinian civil society which seek to put pressure on Israel to engage with the Palestinian people to reach a just solution.
