Sasolburg - The Metsimaholo municipality says it is well aware of the negative impacts that electricity and water shortages, as well as sewerage spills, have on residents.
Mayor Brutus Mahlaku told OFM News he would like to inform residents of Sasolburg, Deneysville, Oranjeville and Refengkgotso that recent disruptions to basic water services are a result of people unlawfully tampering with pump stations.
According to Mahlaku, municipal employees who have been engaged in an illegal strike since June 17, have also contributed to these disruptions. He did, however, give his assurances that the municipality is not encountering technical problems and adds that contingency plans are in place to address problems.
He thanked striking employees who have returned to work, saying the municipality’s doors are always open to aggrieved employees.
