Seventeen suspects involved in deadly FS heist─── 15:50 Fri, 22 Aug 2014
Hennenman - A total of 17 heavily armed suspects were allegedly involved in a deadly cash-in-transit robbery that was foiled by the Hawks on the Hennenman road earlier today.
Hawks spokesperson, Paul Ramoloko, says five robbers were shot dead, six wounded and six more are in custody after a shootout with police took place.
ER24 also confirmed that a civilian, who was sitting in a truck, was struck by a bullet and had to be airlifted to hospital. She is in a critical condition.
Ramoloko says some suspects tried to flee the scene, but were apprehended not far from where the shootout took place.
He added that no money was stolen during the crime.
No police officials were injured.
