UFS suspension comes without specific charges─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 12:54 Wed, 27 Aug 2014
Bloemfontein - The former vice-rector of the University of the Free State and current principal of its South Campus in Bloemfontein was suspended two weeks ago without receiving a charge sheet.
Driekie Hay-Swemmer’s legal representative, Jaco Deacon, says the UFS must complete its investigation, after which the matter can be taken to the next level.
This comes after OFM News reported on Monday that Hay-Swemmer was temporarily suspended pending an investigation. Deacon did not provide more details.
In response to an OFM News enquiry, UFS spokesperson Lacea Loader, said the university will not comment as it is against its policy to discuss matters affecting personnel in the media.
Chairperson of the UFS Council, Judge Ian van der Merwe, earlier declined to comment on the matter.
