Zille: Getting the tapes is the end of the beginning | News Article

Bloemfontein - DA leader Helen Zille has described today as the end of the beginning of the party’s bid to see President Jacob Zuma held accountable for alleged corruption.

This after the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein today ordered that the controversial spy tapes be handed to the party within five days.

The DA has been fighting in court for about five years to get access to the tapes as part of the evidence necessary to complete a review on whether or not the 2009 decision to withdraw fraud and corruption charges against Zuma was politically motivated.

Addressing media and supporters outside the court this morning, Zille said the NPA cannot just ignore the order.

The court ordered agreement includes the appointment of a third party, retired Judge Noel Hurt, to review documentation to determine what formed part of confidential representations of Zuma to the NPA.
