Informal settlements could face flooding─── REFILWE GAESWE 07:42 Fri, 29 Aug 2014
Bloemfontein - Bloemwater says the Dinaweng informal settlements near the N6 outside Mangaung risk flooding and people should be removed.
Apparently some Dinaweng residents are living on top of ageing Bloemwater pipes. The matter was discussed at a council meeting at the Bram Fischer Building in Bloemfontein yesterday.
Bloemwater says if the pipes in question burst, the settlement will be flooded within five minutes. The problem of vandalism and theft of boreholes in Thaba Nchu were also discussed at the meeting.
Apparently, there are currently twenty-five boreholes of which seven are not operational due to drought and low water levels.
