Two arrested in Kimberley with Mandrax tablets worth R1.2m─── 12:29 Sat, 30 Aug 2014
Kimberley - Two people have been arrested in Kimberley in possession of approximately 30kgs of suspected mandrax tablets worth an estimated R1.2 million.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli said police received information in the early hours of this morning that the two people would be on the Shosholoza Meyl at the Kimberley train station.
A 72-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were found in possession of nearly 12 000 suspected Mandrax pills.
The two suspects were immediately arrested and the drugs confiscated. They will be charged with possession of drugs.
The pair were in a train that was going from Johannesburg to Cape Town.
They are expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate's court on Monday.
