TAC, Hospersa to demonstrate outside BFN Magistrate’s court─── SABRINA DEAN 07:39 Mon, 01 Sep 2014
Bloemfontein - out 1 000 Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) members are expected to march to the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s court in solidarity with more than 100 community health care workers scheduled to appear today.
TAC Free State chairperson Sello Mokhalipi says they held a night vigil at Batho Hall and were expected to start marching to court from 7am.
He says they will also demonstrate outside the provincial health department headquarters at Bophelo House en route to the court.
One-hundred-and-thirty community healthcare workers were arrested during a night vigil at Bophelo House on July 10. They are facing charges of gathering illegally.
Mokhalipi says the TAC is also calling for community healthcare workers in the province to be permanently appointed at a minimum salary of R3 500 per month.
Trade union Hospersa meanwhile says it will also demonstrate outside the court today in solidarity with the dismissed healthcare workers.
