Bloemfontein estate agency charges bookkeeper with fraud of R1 million | News Article

Bloemfontein - A Bloemfontein bookkeeper is being investigated for fraud after an estate agency she worked for claimed she swindled them out of about R1 million.

Police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says the charge was laid on September 11 but no arrests have been made yet.
Marope says the complainant alleges that the woman borrowed money from the estate agency between 2009 and this year. She allegedly forged documents that showed that she had paid the money back when she in fact did not.

The head of the estate agency declined to divulge details regarding the fraud complaint, but stated that another property mogul is busy taking over their complexes.

An insider who stays in one of the complexes says that their water and electricity bill is currently in arrears with over R300 000 as a result of the missing money. The insider also says that the company has 21 townhouse complexes, which are all affected.
