Eyewitness account: Klerksdorp Standard Bank robbery─── DANE BEISHEIM 13:08 Thu, 18 Sep 2014
Klerksdorp - Hawks spokesperson Paul Ramoloko has yet to confirm an incident where several armed men attempted to rob the Standard Bank at Flamwood Walk in Klerksdorp this morning.
North West police spokesperson Sarah Wesinyane could not say whether there were any injuries.
OFM News received several reports about the robbery as well as shots that were fired. Wesinyane could also not say whether or not any cash had been stolen from the bank.
Roads in Klerksdorp, leading up to Stilfontein, have been closed. OFM News has received unconfirmed information that six suspects have been arrested in the vicinity of the N12.
More suspects are still thought to be at large. A helicopter has been deployed in search of the robbers who escaped on foot.
A restaurant manager, Dean Duvenhage, witnessed the incident.
