Bloemfontein - The community of the University of the Free State is once again reeling in shock, this time at news of the brutal murder of a popular lecturer.
Volksblad reports this morning that the body of 27-year-old Lehlohonolo Mathengtheng was found in a pool of blood in his apartment in King Edward street on Sunday. According to the report, his throat was slit and there was blood throughout the two-bedroom flat.
Mathengtheng, a lecturer in the university’s Department of Medical Microbiology and Virology, was last seen alive on Friday.

UFS spokesperson Lacea Loader says it is an extremely difficult time.
Details of a memorial service to be held at the university will be made available soon. Loader says colleagues and family are receiving trauma counselling.
