Alleged bank robbers remanded in custody─── DANE BEISHEIM 12:18 Tue, 30 Sep 2014
Klerksdorp - Magistrate Lindiwe Tsengiwe has once again postponed the trial of ten would-be bank robbers in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s court.
This was done in order for their fingerprints to be taken, as well as interviews with Home Affairs. According to State Advocate Riekie Krause, the department of Home Affairs cannot trace the suspects on their system.
OFM News's Dane Beisheim reports that there was a very strong police presence in court today, as the men are considered to be highly dangerous.
Armed members of the Police’s Tactical Response Team were deployed throughout the courtroom.
Nkosana Nkomo, Caleb Moyo, Themba Ndlovu, Skhumbuzo Magwaza, Thabo Tsholo, Xolani Nxumalo, Alfred Ndlovu, Bafana Ntuli, Leonard Dube and Mlungizi Wellington Dube were arrested when they tried to rob a Standard Bank in Flamwood on September 18.
The matter was also postponed in order to obtain other dockets, as the suspects are thought to be linked with no less than ten other separate incidents.
The men will also be moved and detained at the Potchefstroom Correctional Facility, where they will be remanded until their next court appearance on 17 October to apply for bail. This is also being done for the sake of security, as there have been two separate bomb threats to the Klerksdorp Police station since the case went to court.
