Murder suspect identified on CCTV footage─── 17:02 Tue, 30 Sep 2014
A suspect has been identified on CCTV footage at two separate locations in connection with the brutal murder of a Bloemfontein lecturer.
This comes after the body of a lecturer at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Virology at the University of the Free State, Lehlohonolo Mathengtheng, was discovered in his flat at the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Sinah Mpakane, says they have obtained footage of the suspect abandoning Mathegtheng’s silver/grey vehicle at the new taxi rank next to Central Park.
He had the victim’s cellphone and laptop. Mpakane says more footage about the same suspect was captured at a supermarket in Willows.
Mathengtheng's naked body was discovered at his flat in Willows on Sunday, with his throat slit. The motive behind the killing is still unknown. Police are trying to trace the suspect.
