Bloemfontein - Free State Premier Ace Magashule will meet with unemployed nurses on Friday regarding their appointments later this month in various provincial hospitals.
Health MEC, Benny Malakoane, says it has been a long standing issue and Magashule has a plan of action in place which includes among others the nurses remuneration.
Malakoane was speaking at a media briefing in Bloemfontein after a two-day Health Indaba yesterday. He couldn’t disclose Magashule’s plan but rather emphasized that it will have a positive effect on the department.
Magashule who also spoke at the indaba mentioned that the nurses will be hired around Manapo Hospital in Qwaqwa, Bongani in Welkom and the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein.
He also congratulated Malakoane for monitoring the department’s overtime system which is saving the department R285 million. The department now only spends R29 million on overtime.
