Memorial service for murdered UFS lecturer in a week─── 18:18 Thu, 02 Oct 2014
Bloemfontein - A memorial service will be held next Thursday for the University of the Free State lecturer who was brutally murdered in the city over the weekend.
The body of Lehlohonolo Mathengtheng, who was a lecturer and doctorate student in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Virology, was discovered inside his flat in Willows on Sunday.
The motive behind his killing is not yet known. The university describes him in a statement as a great friend, who had wonderful personality and was extremely popular.
Police spokesperson, Sinah Mpakane, earlier said CCTV footage of a suspect at two different locations was recovered. Mpakane says however police have made no arrest yet, because of complications to positively match the identity of the suspect on the footage.
Mathengtheng's memorial service will take place on October 9 at 10:30 in Metro 1 of the Francois Retief Building on the Bloemfontein campus.
