Bloemhof - Water supply to the community of Bloemhof has been restored after a sewerage pipeline near the North West town was deliberately blocked last week causing raw sewerage to flow into the Vaal River.
Executive Mayor of the Dr Ruth Segomotsi District Municipality, Elvis Tladinyane, says foreign objects like stones were pushed through a manhole causing the blockage.
The municipality’s technical team attended to the problem. Water supply was, however disrupted in the process.
Tladinyane has labelled the incident sabotage.
Two babies died in Bloemhof in June this year after drinking contaminated municipal water.
