Eskom satisfied with progress by 3 FS municipalities to pay their debt─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 13:10 Thu, 23 Oct 2014
Bloemfontein - Eskom says it is satisfied with the whole process and commitments followed by various role players in putting together realistic payment plans for three Free State municipalities facing electricity arrears.
Spokesperson, Andrew Etzinger, says various government departments have been working closely with the Maluti-A-Phofung, Dihlabeng and Ngwathe municipalities to refine payment plan proposals to be presented to Eskom for consideration.
He says relevant ministers from involved government departments now need to review and sign off the plans. This is according to him a step in the right direction.
Eskom was due to disconnect power to the three municipalities earlier this month over collective arrears of about R736-million.

The disconnection however did not happen after a meeting involving Public Enterprises Minister, Lynne Brown, and Cooperative Governance Minister, Pravin Gordhan.
