Zuma protection unit members in court─── DANE BEISHEIM 17:41 Wed, 29 Oct 2014
Potchefstroom - Two SAPS members of the Zuma presidential protection unit appeared in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court today on charges of attempted murder; reckless and negligent driving; pointing a firearm; firing a weapon and malicious damage to property.
This follows an incident on August 22 last year when Malose Mokonyane and Sakoela Lepota allegedly tried to force Schalk Enslin’s car from the road while travelling on the N12 between Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp.
Enslin was cross-examined today, and alleges that Mokonyane and Lepota tried to force him from the road after driving at high speed behind him.
He also says they fired a shot which hit his left front tyre. The two police officers then allegedly drove away from the crime-scene without providing their personal details and without reporting the incident to the police.
Magistrate Louisa Mabille postponed the matter until January 20 next year.
The suspects' bail of R3000 was extended.
