Bloemfontein - The Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State says they have no qualms about dismissing corrupt officials.
The Department’s MEC, Butana Kompela addressed the Justice Crime Prevention and Security Cluster media briefing in Bloemfontein yesterday.
He said they have arrested and dismissed eight police officers for misconduct at the Caledonspoort border gate. Apparently, the police officers were observed taking bribes and allowing people to unlawfully cross the border from Lesotho.
He said more than eight traffic officers have also been dismissed for crime and corruption.
Butana says the fight against corruption in both public and private sector is on-going. He says some cases have already been identified which has led to suspension and dismissals.
