Breakthrough in QwaQwa student murder case | News Article

Bloemfontein - The Free State Department of Roads, Police and Transport MEC, Butana Komphela says their has been a breakthrough in the murder case of University of the Free State student found dead two weeks ago.

The twenty-two year old Sinethemba Shezi’s body was found floating in a river in QwaQwa. Komphela says according their investigations, Shezi might have been killed by Lesotho citizens.
Komphela says it is extremely important to profile foreigners so that whenever they commit crimes they can easily be arrested.

Meanwhile, Komphela says prison services shouldn't be a honeymoon. He says there should be no equal human rights for criminals because they limit people’s human rights once they commit crime.

He says most people question why prisoners receive three meals a day, have a bed to sleep on and access to a television.

Komphela believes that parole conditions are very lenient to harsh criminals. He says the country should forget about parole if a person is given life sentence.

Komphela clarifies that the country will never go back to death penalty but also snubbed Judge Thokozile Masipa, stating that he was unhappy about convicted prisoners having their sentences cut short.
