Almost R590 million allocated FS departments | News Article

Bloemfontein - Almost R590 million has been allocated to all provincial departments in the Free State in the 2014/15 adjustment budget.

It is believed to be the lowest thus far. Provincial HOD of the Department of Treasury, Godfrey Mahlatsi, today said the biggest chunk of the money has been allocated from conditional grants. He was speaking at a media briefing in
Bloemfontein where Finance MEC, Elzabé Rockman, presented the budget to legislature.

Mahlatsi said the Department of Police, Roads and Transport received the biggest amount of R233 million from the overall budget and an additional R45 million was allocated as a donation.

The Department of Health received R173 million of which the largest part comes from the conditional rollover grants of the hospital revitalization grant.

Mahlatsi said the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) will receive R30 million towards financial and infrastructure support to municipalities. A R10 million paved road will be built at Viljoenskroon by Cogta and R5 million will be allocated towards disaster recovery at Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality.
