Bloemfontein cops looking into abduction messages | News Article

Bloemfontein - Bloemfontein police are still trying to confirm whether a warning currently circulating on social media about child abduction is genuine.

Free State police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says yesterday they were alerted about a suspicious white Combi that was spotted around primary schools in the city.

The messages claim that two males and a female drive around looking for potential victims.

Marope says they contacted the management of one of the schools mentioned in the messages, but they knew nothing about an attempted abduction.

He says it may be a hoax, but police are not taking it lightly.

Marope says no formal complaint has been laid with the police. He says they have units on the look-out for the suspicious vehicle.
