Bloemfontein - The final deadline to submit returns for the 2014 tax season is just hours away but SA Revenue Service (Sars) officials say those who do miss the deadline mustn’t make the mistake of waiting until the 2015 tax season comes around to file.
Sars deputy spokesperson Marika Muller says the deadline will not be postponed.
She says if you wake up tomorrow morning and realized you’ve missed the deadline, act immediately to avoid cumulative penalties.
Muller says yesterday reached a peak with nearly 120 000 returns filed, pushing the total number of returns filed so far to just under 4.1 million.
Muller says Sars cannot provide an exact number of anticipated returns but says the receiver is quite satisfied with the numbers it is seeing as these are already 300 000 over target.
She says branches are going to be extremely busy for the rest of the day and urges patience if you have left things until the last minute.
