Paramedics urge caution on wet roads | News Article

Clarens - Paramedics urged people to be careful when driving in the rain after a woman was critically injured when she fell off a motorcycle near Clarens in the Free State on Sunday morning.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said when paramedics arrived on the scene on the R711, they found a man walking around pointing to a woman lying about 50m away from the motorcycle.

"He explained that she was on the back of the motorbike with him when he apparently lost control on the wet road," said Vermaak.

The motorbike crashed into a ditch throwing the two off the bike.

The woman had a serious head injury and had to be stabilised.

Both were taken to hospital for further treatment.

Vermaak said heavy downpours have resulted in a spike in collisions.

Most were not serious but caution was advised.
