Phiyega to attend burials in Bloemfontein | News Article

Bloemfontein - National police commissioner, Riah Phiyega, will today the attend funerals of two police officers recently shot and killed in Bloemfontein.

Ntsoaki Molebatse was gunned down in front of her home in Freedom Square by two unknown suspects on November 12. The next day, Tshidiso Mphatsoe was shot four times in Ipopeng township.

Free State police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, says Molebatse’s funeral will commence at 08:00 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Kagisanong, while Mphatsoe’s service will start at 08:45 at the MUCCP hall in Rocklands.

Mbambo says the no arrests have yet been made in either of the cases. Provincial police commissioner, Simon Mpembe, said earlier police believe the killings could be linked to the spike in hijackings in the city over the past few months.
