No measles outbreak in FS─── REFILWE GAESWE 16:38 Fri, 19 Dec 2014
Bloemfontein - The Free State Department of Health has confirmed there is no reported cases of measles in the province.
Spokesperson Mondli Mvambi says an alert has been sent to all health facilities throughout the province and no cases have been reported this far.
He says communities, however, have to remain cautious of any suspected cases and shouldn't hesitate to consult their nearest health facilities.
Mvambi stressed that people's health is a collective responsibility. He urges communities to ensure their children are vaccinated.
This comes after the National Department of Health confirmed this week that cases of measles have been confirmed in the Northern Cape, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and KwaZulu Natal and the Western Cape.
Gauteng and the Northern Cape are the hardest hit so far, with 15 and 17 confirmed cases respectively.
