SAPS warns about use of fireworks | News Article

Bloemfontein - The SA Police Service has expressed concern about the use of fireworks, especially at this time of the year.

North West police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone said the national police service would like to remind the public that fireworks in South Africa are controlled in terms of the Explosives Act of 1956.

Various municipalities have by-laws restricting and guiding residents about the use or discharge of fireworks in certain areas to avoid serious injuries that are experienced during this period.

Mokgwabone says anyone who breaches of any of the regulations of the Act, will be prosecuted.
