One arrested for Bloemfontein hijacking - 11 might still be at large─── OWEN KOCK 12:29 Wed, 28 Jan 2015
Bloemfontein - A suspect has been arrested for yesterday’s hijacking and cigarettes heist in Bloemfontein.
Police believe as many as eleven others could have been involved.
Some of the cigarettes stolen during the hijacking were also recovered.
According to police spokesperson Chaka Marope, the suspect was apprehended close to the Grasmere Toll Plaza on the N1, and he could appear in court tomorrow.
An employee from the British American Tobacco Company was hijacked in the early hours of yesterday morning in Melville Street near the Brandwag Centre, where he was buying food. Upon his return he was forced into the vehicle and taken to two getaway cars in Universitas.
