Accident: Motorists urged to avoid R59 towards Vereeniging─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 12:31 Thu, 29 Jan 2015
Sasolburg - Authorities in Sasolburg in the Free State have appealed to motorists to use alternative routes after the closure of the R59 towards Vereeniging.
This comes after an accident involving a truck earlier today in which the vehicle plunged into the Taaibosch Stream just outside Sasolburg.
Metsimaholo Municipality spokesperson, Gino Alberts, says authorities still await a crane to remove the vehicle from the stream. It is still unclear how many people are trapped inside.
The cause of the accident is unknown, but the truck driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. Motorists travelling from Parys and Vereeniging are urged to travel via Vanderbijlpark.
