R59 at Sasolburg re-opened after truck accident | News Article

Sasolburg - The R59 between Sasolburg in the Free State and Vereeniging in Gauteng has been re-opened after the road was closed earlier today to remove a truck from the Taaibosch Stream.

Metsimaholo Municipality spokesperson, Gino Alberts, says this follows an accident in which the driver of the truck allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

A crane was used to remove the truck from the water. Alberts says the truck driver’s body was recovered by police divers.

According to him there were no other occupants. The driver’s name has not been released yet.

Alberts has appealed to motorists approaching the accident scene to drive with caution and reduce speed.

A police investigation continues.
