DA wants MEC John Block fired─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 13:24 Fri, 30 Jan 2015
Kimberley - The DA in the Northern Cape demands that Premier Sylvia Lucas relieve the provincial MEC for Finance, John block, from his duties with immediate effect.
DA provincial leader, Andrew Louw, says this is not the DA's first request to Lucas regarding Block's dismissal. He says the party has written numerous letters and raised questions in parliament about the issue.
The DA's appeal comes after Block failed to appear in court yesterday in one of many criminal cases against him.
According to Louw the latest instance of contempt of court shows that Block is not fit and proper to be in government.
Louw says Lucas lacks the courage or support from ANC structures to dismiss Block, but if she is serious to root out corruption she needs to take action.
